Resplendant Earth Part II
A journey into fire

Whispering Reeds, fresh from his adventures in Appu, decides to journey to the Captial for a few days in order to investigate the Bizzare set up by Four Songs. It is here he runs into Lovely Breath and Ripple In Still Water as they are shopping for travel provisions for a journey to Suzaku.

Several important events take place leading up to the Suzaku tournment:

  • Ripple in Still Water is given an Undercover mission assigned by Unbroken Oak
  • Sirrocco’s offers them all hospitality
  • Ripple, while undercover finds alternate Accomidations
  • Lovely Breath and Ripple (in Disguise) sign up for Tournment
  • Shady dealings are engaged in by Ripple and Whispering Reeds to get an enforcer job at firedust refinery
  • Lovely Breath researcha and take a trip to the southern district Sasu
  • Ripple and Whispering Reeds explore the Fire Dust refinery and find an Obsidian mask hideout.
  • An assasination attempt is foiled resulting in backalley brawl.
Resplendant Earth

For the past two months Red Serpent’s Eye has been taking acting lessons in secret from the talented Madame Sparrow, owner of The Cobble Stone Theater in U~esuto. She has bounced back and forth between her scout duties and acting lessons whenever she is on leave.

Meanwhile, River Flows Deep has taken advantage of the power vacumm created by the collapse of the 4971 Hungry Devils. He has recruited enforcers, informants, merchants, fences, and spies. His Community Action Group has grown into a true force to be reckoned with. His coffers fill with silver like they never have before. In the mean time Whispering Reeds has gained more aclaim as an influential merchant and information broker to the Elite of Hakura. His name has now spoken by the lips of important officals and artisocrats.

They come across each other at The Popped Cork one day. They discuss the upcoming Tournment of Champions and their excitedment about the Event. Both express a desire to enter over a cup of wine.

River accompanies Red to go sign up at the squared circle arena that is under construction. The clerk at the signup booth regrettably informs Red she is not permitted to join, but gladly signs up River. It is then that Red remembers that while she may spend most of her leave time in U~esuto, that Appu is truly her home district. She resolves to request leave from her Commander to travel to Appu, visit her family, and fight for the glory of her home District!

When she approaches Stifling Raven on the matter, he gladly grants her leave, under the condition that should she be eliminated she immediately return to active duty. River then offers to join her on the journey to Appu, to offer her support and companionship. Red gladly accepts and they purchase travel supplies, and horses, as the journey to Appu is overland with no waterways heading directly to the district.

During the second night of their journey they are ambushed by members of the 4971 Hungry Devils. They fight back with cunning, precision, and devestating martial force. The Devil-turned-bandits are scattered and driven away into the night, and the leader brutally slain. To avoid dealing with a potential Hungry Ghost, they bury the body with due reverence.
The rest of the trip is without incident, other than a rather kind family of three heading to Appu for construction work on the arena joining them. But that was more accurately described as a pleasant distration. River and Red were glad for the company, and to protect these kind people from any other potential bandit attacks.

When they arrived at Appu it was a bustling with activity.

The tournment arena and sign ups were at the districts vast Municipal Gym. The wide streets surrounding the Gym are filled with merchants.

River Flows Deep ran into his friend Zafira, who gave him the full scoop on the merchant prince Four Songs new bizzare he opened up just outside the Capital. She also informed him of the shady dealings involving The Obsidian Mask, and how they may very well be in business with Fours Songs for smuggling, fencing, and contraband.

Red Serpent’s Eye signs up to compete and then afterwards she brings River to her family. She welcomed by her little brother and mother with open arms. They offer River the hospitality of their home. The long three day journey to Appu ends with a warm, home cooked meal, and a friendship between Red Serpent’s Eye and River Flows Deep growing strong from it.

Ascending Earth RY 768 Part III
Ambush at the Capital.

Lovely Breath was given an important letter to deliver from her employer Timid Tempest. her job takes her to the southern most district of Sasu. She is to deliver it to a young woman by the name of Gentle Mist, who will be at the soothing Hands Hospice. her journey is unusally fast.

When she comes upon the Hospice, Gentle Mist and the Hospice’s owner, Opal, are being accosted by three gang membes demanding protection money. Lovely breath intervenes, and a physical confrontation begins, one that is quickly put to rest by Lovely Breath’s martial prowess and Lady’s Mist’s persusive words. They discover that they are working for a larger organization called the Obsidian Mask. The neighborhood where the Hospice is located is the syndicate’s territory.

Swift Oak is on leave to meet with his Uncle for important family business. He is walking the street of Sasu and is called over by the two young women. They ask for his help in reporting the problem to the proper authorities as they recognize him as a member of the Military. He agrees to report the incident to the local Guardians. He heads to the Guardian’s station and scares them into competence. bringing them to the Hospice to ensure it is safe.

Lovely then delivers the letter, which informs Lady Mist that her father wishes her to return home for schooling. All three learn from the ensuing conversation they are traveling to the Capital, so they all agree to travel together.

Meanwhile back in Indra, Ripple In Still Water is being assigned a new mission from Unbroken Oak. he informs him that the Oracle of Seiryu is arriving in the capital. He is to protect Charmed Light during her visit with Minister Mist. This infuriates Ripple as he feels his talents are being wasted pulling “bodyguard” duty. he and his mentor get into an arguement. Unbroken Oak points out to him the importance of the Rakasha problem and how she is a high priorty target for the Enemy. Ripple leaves anger yet understanding he has orders.

Shortly there after the oracle and her brother arive in the city. She is given accomidations on Minister Steel Mist’s estate, in his beautiful guest house. They are to be his guests for a full week as his busy scheduel makes an immediate reading an impossiability. He informs her that once his daughter arrives she will be serving as her guide to the Captial.

The journey from Sasu is short due to Lady Mist’s credentials. The three traveling companions arrive in the captial and go their seperate ways.

Lovely Breath goes to meet with Ripple to attend the opening of the new bakery across the street from their apartment, Butter on Top.

Gentle Mist heads directly home to check in with her father. Its is here that she and her father touch base about her returning to her schooling. He also introduces her to Charmed Light and her brother, and formally requests she serve as a guide and entertain to the young Oracle during her stay as a guest in their home. Gentle graciously agrees.

Swift Oak heads to his uncle, Unbroken Oak’s office to speak with him and find out about the ugrent family matter that he sent for him for. When he speaks with his Uncle, Swift is informed that the Goddess Amara and the Five Sublime Ministers will be sponsering a Tournment of Champions. Each District would be holding a Martial Arts Tournment, the winner gains the title of District Champion, and a monetary prize of three talents of silver. Those who hold the title of District Champion are permitted to enter the Grand Tournment which be taking place in the Capitial City of indra. the winner of the Grand Tournment will be granted the gift of Exaltation and become a Chosen of Amara. This Champion will serve as the foerunner in the War against Thrice-Betrayed-Leaf and the Behemoths.

Unbroken Oak asks his nephew to enter the contest representing the Capital, in honor of the memory of his fallen mentor. Swift eagerly agree to take up this challenge.

Young Ripple in Still Water hears of the contest and immediately is excited. He plans to enter the contest himself and represent Hidari in the Finals.

Later that afternoon, all of them convene at Butter on Top.

Ascending Earth RY 768 Part II
A day in life of Charmed Light

Its been a week since they tried to take her mother and she went to offer herself in exchange. Fortune’s Laughter has barely left her room to breathe ever since and yet they’ve barely said a word to one another. She’s maintained a more normal schedule even if it is busy, telling fortunes during the day and visiting the ancient temple in the early evenings, before returning home for dinner and time with the family. It seems as though her life is back on track to achieving some normalcy, til they arrive. The morning starts like every other this week, she’s in the shop preparing herself for a day of readings with a soothing cup of tea meant to still her mind and open her to channeling the divine. Her mother comes in to inform her of the first supplicant, when she hears that the people waiting on her for a reading are Burden of Mercy and, of all people, Red Serpents Eye, she drops her tea cup and it shatters on the floor as she barely maintains her composure. She reassures her mother it was merely a slip and sends her back out to see them in after she has a moment to clean up. Despite the recent assault on her family the ensuing week had lent itself to the idea that she was finally home, and if not safe at least securely in familiar territory. It was one thing to have Burden of Mercy show up, they’d spent some time together bonding over their mutual respect for one another’s gifts but Red, here, so far from the woods outside the wall and the horrible event that set all this in motion, it felt like a violation, carrying that traumatic event into her Sanctuary. Then that word rang in her head “Sanctuary” … byAmara’s many faces what was she thinking? How could she be so concerned for herself when clearly a great need had presented itself for a devoted Scout like Red to be so far inside the walls and entering the shop of someone she probably wouldn’t normally even count as a resource? She regathers her composure and prepares to receive her guests. The moment is somewhat tense since she doesn’t know what news or reaction to expect, which isn’t helped by Burden’s inquiries. He deftly cuts right to the topic that has been the exact source of the silence between Charmed Light and her brother. Once he maneuvers the topic back into the seeking of guidance in regards to the orbs, she breathes a sigh of relief and, renewed in her devotion to be the empty vessel through which others may find answers, she opens herself to the divine and allows them to speak. The picture they paint is clear, they haven’t seen the last of these orbs. In fact, it seems there is one in every district of Hakura.

She breathes a heavy sigh as she processes this message/warning from the Gods. In an effort to help them be as informed as possible and frankly to be able to confer more in depth with Burden over the implications of the temple and all that has transpired within she leads them to the tunnels through which she had trod every day since the kidnapping. They ran into some slight trouble at the theater since there was currently a performance but Burden of Mercy handled readily. Hearing him be so forceful and threatening was somewhat disconcerting but she let the moment pass, it had achieved the desired results and they moved forward eventually reaching the hidden temple. At the archway she stopped and offered a quiet prayer as she had grown accustomed to before entering this forgotten holy place. But, as she finished her observance, she noticed Red Serpents Eye listening intently to what turned out to be the voices of several thugs who apparently frequented the tunnels and believed they were safe once more from authorities, they were so very wrong. The fight that ensued started out quite well. Charmed Light effortlessly throws herself into forms that are quickly becoming so very familiar. She gives herself over to the spirit of this deadly dance which transforms her into the elusive river. Melding first with Fortune’s Laughter and then joining seamlessly and becoming one with the rhythm of Burden of Mercy as they ebbed and flowed to break around any obstacle, Burden and Fortune crashing against the aggressors like untamed waves only fall painlessly back into the boundless embrace of her protective waters and come together once more, utterly unharmed. The dance itself is flawless, they drive away all harm with layers of impenetrable motion. She finds herself with her arms wrapped around Burden like a living embodiment of the armor that shields him so closely from every angle. As they turn attention on her, Burden lowers her with a dip into which she trustingly falls, as her fans mask the approach of Fortune’s deflecting blade. She rises and her fans flow like the caress of a wind around Burden once more, turning the deadly intentions of the enemies blades into listless leaves carried away by the breeze of her art. (The layered defend other. The “hug” defense around Burden, the “dip” parry, and the “caress” deflection) The enemy grows aggravated by their own cacophony in the presence of such transcendent harmony and so decide to attempt to sow discord in our perfect song as one of the thugs threatens them all and then insists Charmed Light surrender lest he kill Fortune’s laughter. She doesn’t believe a word, who can trust the spark to control the fire from whence it splintered? But they press her now and the note of their discord begins to take hold in their symphony. Fortune’s laughter breaks from the waters of their dance and rushes forward as he brings his blade down, sharp and cold as ice, and there is an arc of blood that spatters the earthen sanctity. Time slows for a moment as she sees her brother separate the man’s head from his body. The song falls silent. Time feels disjointed and the flow is lost in that haunting moment. Another of them chooses to surrender and is laid low by Burden of Mercy and Fortune’s Laughter, ensuring he will not recant his surrender. Red reappears, as if manifesting from the Shadows. Again feeling slipped out of time as she realizes another thug is missing in action while Red advances on their final assailant, laying him low. He looks about, assured of his defeat by the state of his fellows and in a final gambit he reaches up with his knife and opens his own throat.
It feels as though an eternity passes, as if creation were suddenly moving so slowly she could see each and every ruby drop born forth from his throat take form and fall like so many crimson tears down his throat, bespoiling this hallowed ground with his heresy against life itself. She’s moving before she even realizes it. Rushing forward, she tears at the sleeve of her Kimono and slides desperately forward to staunch the font of his life’s blood and draw him back from the brink of the abyss. She is a whirl of motion, her hands moving faster than she can seem to think until at last she sees the light of life glimmer once more in his eyes … only to watch him mouth the words, “let me die.” And a hollowness opens inside her and echoes throughout her being. She falls perfectly still, leaning over her charge, her hair the curtain that veils her face from the others as, at last, the dam within her that held together so well in the name of guarding those dear to her finally breaks and tears fall silently down her porcelain cheeks.

The conscious offender offers only words of certain doom for everyone including himself and his compatriots. Her voice sounds dark and vacant as she offers retort to his damning predictions. Against the ‘advice’ and protest that nowhere will be safe, they gather the bodies, living and dead, and report to the guard station as Burden sets off to interrogate one of them in hopefully unassailable solitude and safety. Charmed Light requests the privilege of more direct dispensation over the underground temple from behind the screen of her fan, allowing no one to see the tears still silently falling from the disillusioned ache of her heart. Fortune offers Red the hospitality of family for the evening and she accepts. Charmed Light retreats to her room where she quickly changes and hides yet another ruined kimono in her room. Alone at last she allows herself a moment to just collapse and weep but even this release is short lived, determined not to let her sorrow show, she knows she can’t be gone long or someone will notice and come to check on her. She straightens up, adjusts her hair, and does her utmost to put a mask of geniality into place as she returns to share dinner with the family.

However Red is both perceptive enough to see through her and loutish enough to announce her true state in front of her whole family. In a valiant effort to allow her to maintain her dignity, charmed light’s family all suddenly become quite busy in the kitchen. Her brother stays behind and presses her for the truth until she caves at last and begins having it out with him. Red seems disinterested with the argument she’s instigated and retreats to the kitchen with the rest of Charmed Light’s family. They debate methods and meanings and the nature of hope but instead of solving anything they end it by affirming their care for one another and agreeing to disagree in the interest of not alienating their guest. Dinner resumes and the rest of the evening proceeds without incident. Red is shown to a room and everyone parts ways at last to rest in presumable peace and solitude.
Charmed Light, still haunted by the night’s events and the despondent light it seems to cast on the last three months of her life, is unable to rest. She kneels in her room beside her bed, facing her window, and gazes into the night sky. It is there she remains throughout the night, her heart broken, her soul hollow, searching the stars for answers to questions she cannot even name.

Troubled homecoming.

Charmed Light and her brother Fortune’s Laughter arrive at home to Seiryu safely.

When they enter Beyond the Veil, they find their family in a state of pandimonium. They learn that their mother Soft Portent has been kiddnapped! The randsom note, written in delicate hand in Old Realm, say that Charmed Light must willing turn herself into the custody of Thrice Betrayed Leaf and her mother will be set free. Detailed direction to where the exchange maybe made at the bottom of the letter which is signed by Raidiant of Leaves, Herald of Thrice Betrayed Leaf.

Charmed Light agrees with her father that they should summon the guards immediately. her father gathers a party to head out to infor the Guardians of the situation. While the rest of her family throws themselves into fixing dinner to get their minds off the tragedy. However, Charmed Light uses this to her advantage to sneak out of the shop, with the letter in hand, to make the exchange.

The directions lead her to a hidden passage under the local theater, Hall of Eternal Watersongs. Before entering the theater, Charmed Light offers a prayer to Amara pleading for her help. The passage leads to tunnels with the same self-igniting torches she ecountered before in the tunnels within the Wall of Suta. She eventually finds herself at an archway leading into ancient Temple to the Celestial Incarna. She offers a silent prayer to these ancient deties before entering the Temple. All around the temple she observes prayer strips that ward against the Wyld and against Divinity.

Standing further in the temple is her mother bound and gagged, next to Blood Spattered Blossom and a contingient of five hobgoblins. They are all illuminated by a Waypoint hovering nearby. With a finger snap, Blood releases Soft Portent from her bonds. She rushes to her daughter and in a panic says they ,must run. Charmed fools her mother into beliving they are running away together. once her mother has continued to run and belives light is behind her, Light stops and returns to Blood.

The Fair Folk Warrior complients her on her stylistic deceptions, and says they will serve her well in the Courts of the Fair Folk.

Then there is a bright flash of white light that fills the room…

Deep in the Eastern Forest outside the Wall Thrice Sworn Dreamer witnessed a group of Hobgobling carrying a fancy Palonquin into a clearing. Said clearing has vast oak tree who’s center is covered in amber that glows from within. Dreamer darts through the night and warns nearby patrolling scout Relentless Vanguard. She follows her signals and with her aid successfully ambushes the wyld creatures. Working in concert, Dreamer, Vanguard, and Pangur, the monsters are all slain in a hail of spear strikes, claw swipes and ghostly fients. During the battle Dreamer hears the voice of Amara whispering to her “Little sister, she needs your help” coming from the glowing amber.

Shortly there after the forest comes to life and the trees slam together and rise high above them and transforms to a near unpentrable canopy. They are trapped in the clearing and a moment later a vast green skinned, tusked behemoth’s face appears in the canopy. Vanguard realizes there is no way out to his horror after he shouts to Dreamer to run. Dreamer then leaps into the air, carrying a scoop of strange potions she found inside the paliquin. She bounces off the trees and rockets herself to the canopy and tossed the potions in the behemoths face. She then exhales a plume of the sleeping mists into the behomoth’s face before gracefully arching downwards and dancing off tree branches until she lands in front of the glowing Amber.

“Help me get the paliquin into the amber” She shouts.

“Are you crazy?! Amber is SOLID!” Vanguard shouts back before helping the strange spirit with her task.

As the behemoths vast clawed hand reaches in to grab one of them there is a bright flash of white light…

Vanguard and Little Moon tumble out of the Waypoint with palinquin, right next to Blood Spattered Blossom.

The Fair Folk warrior looks at the new arrivals in disgust.

“Friends of yours?” he replies to Charmed Light. “Ugh, who cares, kills them.”

A pitched battle ensues as Vanguard and Little Moon do their best to rescue the Oracle. Vanguard’s skill with the spear, Pabgur’s claws, Little Moon’s sorcery, and Light’s cunning and appeals to the Gods barely pull them through and drive away the powerful Fairfolk and his minions.

Charmed Light offers a prayer to Amara, after Pangur destroys the wards against Divinity. In that moment Amara is able to send in her divine powers through the Wyld Wards to seal away the Waypoint into a solid white orb once again.

The Guardians arrive with Fortune’s Laughter and Soft Portent. They are glad to see Light is safe. Dreamer hides before she is spotted. Vanguard explains the situation and is offered hospitality by Fortune at his home until he can make his journey back outside the Walls.

He accepts the offer and the three of them return to Beyond the Veil for bath, dinner, and sleep.

Little Moon sneaks off and with the help of Shiro, quickly flies back to the Forest. She finds the clearing and sees nearby that Stifling Raven and a squad of Scouts has slain the green-skinned tusked behemoth. She arrives and informs him what happened to Vanguard and the reminds him about the situation with the Waypoints. Raven takes in the information grimly.

Little Moon then returns to the Walls to visit Charmed Light with the help of Shiro.

She arrives as dinner is beging finished. Charmed Light, Little Moon, and Vanguard are lead into the backyard to meet Star’s Memory. it is an interesting conversation as neither of them have ever seen an elephant before.

Shortly there after Little Moon returns to her forest home, Vanguard enjoys his first hot bath in weeks, and Charmed Lights heads to sleep in her own bed for the first time in a long while. However, before she can truly rest her brother makes it very clear he is furious with her for sneaking off, something Charmed Light will have to deal with in the coming weeks…

Resplendant Fire RY 768 Part III
A band gathers, a Devil's plot foiled.

Charmed Light is enjoying her tea alone, a brief moment of respite as a guest in Whispering Reeds home.

Her host, Burden of Mercy, and Ripple In Still Water enter the room to join her.

Suddenly Charmed can see in her cup the reflection of Blood Spattered Blossom behind her. Then five hobgoblins crash through the walls and she whips around to see the Fair Folk Warrior there about to pounce.

Like lightning Ripple snatches her up and runs at full tilt away from her would be captor. They all engage in glorious combat against the Wyld’s minions. In the moments it appears the group will be the most triumphant, Blood Spattered Blossom fires his Nightmare Bow into the air causing gossamer droplets of light to rain from the cieling. This causes all the hobgoblin minions to twist, contort, and shapeshift into his exact duplicate.

“This was a test, and next time my dear, this is how you shall be confronted,” the Fair Folk said to her as he stared into her eyes.

Charmed Light awakens covered in a cold sweat.

She looks over to see Little Moon is perched in her open window, illuminated by the light of her namesake. The young girls has braved the Walls with the help of her Strix companion.

The two young women share each other’s company and bond as Charmed Light shares with Little Moon knowledge about life and clothing within the walls.

Whispering Reeds is awakened by one of his servants about the comotion upstairs in his guest’s room. he checks in on the girls and is a bit exasperated. he gives a rather strained lecture on manners and using the front door. Then they all finally turn in for a morning nap.

Meanwhile in Indra Lovely Breath seeks a new job as a Messenger, as she belives that maybe more safe than continuing to pursue being a Scout. She is hired by Timid Tempest, whom works for the Minister of the Guard. He gives her a package to deliver to Whispering Reeds in U~esuto.

Burden of Mercy, whom just had turned in his report to the Quartermasters about the situation with Charmed Light and her brother, goes to meetup with Lovely Breath to ask for her help with the situation back East dealing with The Hungry Devils. Lovely Breath declines cooly, saying she has a job now and isn’t really interesting in getting involved in dangerous things. This alarms Burden a bit as it doesn’t seem typical of her. over conversation he discovers she is going out east as well. So he offers her fast transport via his new Wind Elemental companion, she gladly accepts.

They travel to U~esuto and quickly metup with Ripple In Still Water. he and Lovely Breath talk and he learns that some offhanded comments he made, convinced her to give up on being a Scout for a more “safe occupation”. Ripple is flabberghasted as all he wanted was for her to be an Arbiter with him, but she makes it clears she never wanted to be an Arbiter.

Burden is troubled by all this as they arrive at the Estate of Whispering Reed. The group arrives just in time for breakfast cooked by Cinder Cone. Lovely breath delivers her package to Reed and attempts to simply leave. However, Cinder Cone insists the girl stay using her Matronly aura to draw in the girl.

The entire group shares breakfast and it is a colorful interaction. There are many side conversations, sharing of outfits, and plans made for the day. They all travel to the Temple of Amara in the District to give an offering to The Thrice Blessed Goddess as Ripple In Still Water wishes to request one of his two Divine Favors.

Charmed Light offers the goddess a prayer with the aid of Burden of Mercy. The resulting prayer is answered and Ripple’s tiger claws are blessed with a Bane against Fair Folk.

Some discussion is had afterwards and it is discovered that Little moon knows about a mystical door on the Walls that leads to the outside. Ripple eagerly asks that she show him. Together, they find the stairs leading to the top of the outer Wall and explore where it would be located. Little moon is able to discern its location. With the help of Burden’s Zephyr and Shiro the Owl, they all are able to fly down safely to where the door would be.

Burden of mercy however is the last down and is caught by a Guardian Patrol. There is a brief, tense confrontation where Burden is almost thrown off the wall. However through his force of personality he handles it and Zephyr carries him down with no harm.

They all examine the wall and Little Moon through her sorcerous knowlege descerns only channeled essence or a secret password with open the door.

As everyone begins venting their frustration, Whispering Reed step forward and say the secret word as he puts his hand on the wall and the door mystically opens. He smiles confidantly as he recalls the information in the package delivered to him by Lovely Breath. Which contained all of Fours Songs transactions, accomplicies, and pass codes for his smuggling operation.

Together they all enter the tunnel inside the Wall…

The group bravely heads down and discovvers a vast tunnel with sconces that have torches that light up whenever they pass them. The path lead down to a staircase leading down underground. They emerged from a doorway in an alley way in the under-district town. Here was an entire town of people living underground in cold, wet, and cramped quarters.

They all talked about where to go next. Charmed Light performed an augury to determine how they should proceed. her prophesy revealed that they would face “five fold strife”, but so long as they all worked together they would succeed at discovering and sealing the Waypoint they belived was being guarded by the 4971 Hungry Devils.

While ther was some trepidation from Ripple in Still Water and Lovely Breath, they all agreed to go under stealth to infultriate the Hungry Devils hideout and find the Waypoint orb. They all successfuly slipped in through various tricks and went unseen by all the Hungry Devils like ghosts in the night. They carefully went down the basement steps of the hideout and found the orb surrounded by a prayer rope that shieled from Wyld Energies.

Though the use of Dreamers spell the Mists of Eventide, the five well armed guards surrounding the orb were put to sleep.

Shortly thereafter Charmed Light gave up a powerful prayer to Amara. Whom heeded her call and send out her powerful divine might to send threads of the Wall’s sacred stone from the ground and seal the waypoint in a solid orb.

The orb fell to the ground and Ripple caught it. They quietly made their out of the Warehouse, but not before Dreamer used her command of the Guards dreams to send them upstairs to attack their fellow Hungry Devils as they made there escape.

Once up above, Lovely Breath, shaken by the events of the evening fled the group to hop the first bardge leaving for the Capital.

Dreamer called upon her strix Shiro and flew her way home to the Forest beyond the Wall.

The rest retired to the home of Whispering Reeds.

A quiet end to an eventful day.

Resplendant Fire RY 768 Part II
Devils strike and the Blood Spattered Blossom returns.

Charmed Light and her brother Fortune’s Laughter have been enjoying the hospitality of River Flows Deep’s townhouse. The matron and healer Cinder Cone has been treating the injured young man, and tutoring the young oracle in the healing arts.

Burden of Mercy and Ripple In Still Water are both sent to U~esuto to find, ensure safety, question, and escort home Charmed Light and her brother by their superiors. They arrive together and meet up with Whispering Reeds at The Popped Cork.

Beforing returning to Reeds’ home to meet their charge, they go to the bakery across the street. Burden purchases a dozen baked goods and negotiates renting the “safe house” apartment from the owner. She happily agrees but informs them the lock is broken. Eager to help Ripple offers to pick the lock. With his considerable talent he picks the lock easily, impressing Whispering Reed. After they settle the travel bags in the room, the three of them depart to meet Charmed Light for dinner.

However, after they leave the bakery Red Tiger and three thugs from the 4971 Hungry Devils jump them from the alleyway. A nasty street fight begins leaving the thugs knocked out and cuffed, and Red Tiger horribly crippled. the young Arbiter deposits them with the local peacekeepers while the other continue to Reeds’ estate for dinner.

Later that evening they all sit down to diner with Charmed Light, and Cinder Cone eats the meal she cooked upstairs with her patient.

They have a nice polite dinner, despite Ripple being a bit abrasive at times. Afterwards they have coffee, sherry, and cakes. During this time Ripple questions Charmed about the kidnapped, but quickly gets distracted as she explains her gift of prophesy. He asks her for a reading and she gladly complies. the reading fortells of his charge being in immediate danger soon.

Meanwhile, Burden is upstairs reuniting with his old cadetmate Fortune’s Laughter and ensuring to his health. Once they have had a pleasant conversion and Burden is assured Fortune is recovering fine, he heads downstairs to join the questing.

At one point the questioning becomes too intense for Charmed Light and she must leave to have a moment alone with her emotions. it is then that Blood Spattered Blossom appears in her room, and informs her he is there to take her to his Lord and Master.

She screams.

What follows is desperate battle involving an army of phantasms, fire magic, and an array acrobatic martial feats. the Fair Folk Warrior is once again defeated.

Afterwards, Ripple In Still Water immediately goes to the guardhouse to report the insident. The other remain behind to comfort the young oracle and pieace together what happened.

Burden requests a reading from the Oracle, as they all fear another Waypoint orb maybe in play. Her prophesy reveals that attacking the 4971 Hungry Devil is the course of action that must be taken to retrive the orb.

Burden secures Charmed and her brother a safe have at the Temple of Suzaku, and Whispering Reed perpares to go to War.

An kidnapping beyond the wall.

The famous oracle of Seiryu, Charmed Light, gives two readings. One is to the Lady Soft Rose. It fortells of great calamity befalling her as a result of her romance. The second is to a mysterious Veiled Man who is quiet impressed with her talent.

Meanwhile in U~esuto, River Flows Deep begins organizing his Community Protection Group to ensure the security of his district against the violent power grabs of the 4971 Hungry Devils.

Thrice Sworn Dreamer, has witnessed more and more patrols of Hobgoblins leaving the Wyld pocket. She continues to patrol the edges of her Forest as to be able to warn the Scouts of the incoming danger.

Red Serpent’s Eye sees an end to her leave and is recruited by Stifling Raven to serve in the First Scout Regiment directly under his command. They make a ranging out to the Scout Outpost deep in the forest.

Charmed Light and River Flows Deep awaken in the morning to discover they are bound by wrists and ankles, in there finest clothes, and in a cart outside the Wall of the Empire. There is a man disgusied as a Scout driving the cart, and hobgoblins surrrounding them riding vicious wolf-like steeds. Fortune’s Laughter is bound and gagged near them. But he is unconcious and looks as if he has been beaten to the brink of death.

Thrice Sworn Dreamer see the cart and hobgoblins approaching the forest. She seeks out Red Serpent’s Eye, who is nearby gathering wood and intelligence. Together they ambush the cart. At the same time the prisioners free themselves and attack as well.

Using their combined sorcery, stradegy, and martial prowess they defeat the hobgoblins and imposter Scout.

Dreamer remains in the forest, but guides them safetly out. She informs them that the Hobgoblins are minions in service to Thrice Betrayed Leaf

Red Serpents Eye leads the others back safely to the Walls, specifically to the U~esuto District. Once returned, River Flows Deep learns that a gang war with the 4971 Hungry Devils has begun in the wake of his dissappearance. As his followers investigated, and learned that the Hungry Devils had poisioned him, kiddnapped him, and sold him into slavery. Now he is ready to continue the War.

Ascending Fire RY 768 Interlude
Little Moon

The mysterious Thrice Sworn Dreamer, discovers hobgoblins in her forest attempting to ambush Stifling Raven and the First Scout Regiment while they are returning to the Empire.

She warns them and aids them in fighting the minions of her sworn enemy.

She discovers imposter scouts are working with the hobgoblins, and an exit from the Walls unknown by the Scouts. She uses her sorcery to lull the accomplices to sleep and hands them over to the Scouts for questioning.

It then that Stifling Raven gifts her the name “Little Moon”, as giving out her actually name is too dangerous, HE may hear, and she refuses to give him the power of her name to become part of his Story.

Assassins, politics, and dangerous beauty

After the arrest of Soft Rose, the Patriarch of the family, Strong Rose was demanding her release. So much so he wished those responsiable jailed and/or court marshalled.

Awakened by a sudden sound early in the morning, Ripple In Still Water ends up having to fight off the infamous assasin Black Lily. He defeats them brutally, and against the advice of Illusive Breeze, turns in the high priced assasin to the authorties.

He is ordered to move into the barracks and to see to the deputies and the Chaplain in case of any assasination attempts on them.

The group all convenes and Burden of Mercy , returned from the Eastern Districts with iron ore, introduced his merchant friend Whispering Reeds to Ripple In Still Water and Lovely Breath. Crediting him with helping retrive the iron, and informing them that he is lending his services and expertise to the Quartermasters temporarily.

Arrangements are made with the Temple of Amara to cold forge the iron ore into a box, and with any leftover ore a weapon. It takes a week to construct.

In that time everyone trains, studies, investigates, and establishes various contacts.

Then the box is retrived and the leftover ore is made into a dagger, which Lovely Breath is given to wield.

The group descends into the catacombs and travel to the Waypoint. As they attempt to entrap it in the box, light shoots out and forms into a frightenly inhumanly beautiful creature, its name, Blood Spattered Blossom, tattooed in old Realm on it body. The Fair Folk warrior attacks them and they engage in a dangerous battle against the monster.

The Waypoint is encased in the cold iron box and with martial prowess, cleverness, teamwork, and sorcery they defeat the Fair Folk.

The Goddess Amara once again appears and offers her gratitude for defeating her sworn enemy’s dangerous champion. She grants them all a Divine Favor. She removes the iron box into her custody until such time the Temple decides what to do with it.

They are hailed as heroes by the Arbiters.
